ACHIEVEMENTS AND AWARDS

museum (2019_12_14 22_47_57 UTC)

Keta Senior High Technical School, during its sixty years of existence, has chalked much in terms  of achievements and has witnessed many positive changes within its short span of existence, indeed  more than anybody can adequately catalog. These achievements are not limited to the academic  laurels and honors of the present crop of students only, but span the many thousands of its alumni  who have distinguished and continue to distinguish themselves in various fields of endeavor, both  nationally and internationally. These achievements, dazzling as they are, owe much of their grandeur to the untiring and devoted attachment to duty that has characterized the life of the successive  generations of headmasters and their staff s whose great driving force has been the school’s motto:  ‘Dzo Lali’ (Now or Never) and its emblem, the proverbial flying eagle that has come to the awareness that nothing but the skies shall be the target of its enterprise.

Successive headmasters throughout the school’s history have tried to hold aloft the torch that was lit  in the earlier years by the founding fathers, and have blazed throughout the years of toil to the present day, to produce some of the most eminent national and international figures that have become  jewels in the crown of KETASCO.

  • 1956

    Pioneers had 100% Pass

The pioneering seventeen candidates who were presented for the School Certificate Examination in 1956 had 100% passes, thus setting a brilliant standard for subsequent generations to emulate.

  • 1978

    Distinctions

When the school celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1978, the school recorded 100% pass in both Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations. In 2011, 79 distinctions were created by that particular year group. 55 of those distinctions were produced by the girls. The best student was a girl – Ms. Ama Ackon. She scored seven A’s (English Language inclusive) and a B2. Another phenomenal achievement was that no girl scored below C6 in English, no student failed in English Language. In fact, that batch scored 100% in 23 out of the 35 subjects we offer here. As if that achievement was not enough, the dosage was not only repeated in 2012, but in a better form: there were 100% passes in 28 out of the 35 subjects we offer here; there were 3 students who had 8 A1s, 6 students had 7 A1s, 19 students had 6 A1s, and 27 students had 5 A1s. In a department like Business, 118 students out of 128 had A1s in Business Management, all students in the Sciences had 100% pass in all the subjects they read.

  • 1992-1995

    Best 10 Schools in Ghana

In 1992, 1993 and 1995 the school had 100% passes in the ‘O’ Level examinations and almost just as good in the ‘A’ Levels where the passes were around 97%. From 2000 to date, the school has been scoring quality 100% pass. In 2009/10 the school found itself among the ivy best 10 schools in the country. Records are demolished yearly by subsequent year groups

  • 1992-1995

Best Results at the Introduction of SSS programme

At the inception of the S.S.S. programme, our first batch results were adjudged one of the best in the country and the best in the Volta Region against a backdrop of generally poor results nationwide. That year, the quality of our passes were astounding and candidates shortlisted for University entrance were around 29 when some of the older and the so-called elite schools could only boast of as much as 5! Needless to say, the school is gradually taking its rightful place among the elite schools in this country judging from the avalanche of placement seekers who throng the Head master’s office for their wards’ placement. As the Headmaster modestly pointed out recently in an address to past students at a dinner dance, ‘It is a school which is currently performing creditably in all fields: in academic work, in music and culture, in sports and in discipline’. You are requested to kindly scan the results posted elsewhere in this brochure, just to satisfy your curiosity. Our school is achieving fame worth a Centre of Excellence.

  • 1989

Over-all best student in Mathematics ‘O’ Level in the whole of West Africa

In 1989, KETASCO was poised to make exploits on the international scene when it produced the over-all best student in Mathematics ‘O’ Level in the whole of West Africa in the person of Ben Atitsogbui. Th is feat was followed a few years later by Selasi Mortotsi who emerged as national 3rd best in the G.C.E. ‘O’ Level in 1994. In 2012, Master Tsevi Bright was awarded the third best student ship award for West Africa, by WAEC. Th e ceremony was held in Banjul, the Gambia.

  • 1997- 1998

De Souza who took Regional best student in 1997 and 1998

These were inspirations enough for younger students like De Souza who took Regional best student in 1997 and 1998 for forms two and three respectively.

  • 1998

Head of State Award for Volta Region

Again in 1998, the Head of State Award for Volta Region best overall B.E.C.E. Student and also the Regional 2nd best student for Form 2 were taken by Faith Boafor while the Volta Regional overall second best for form 3 went to Attatsitsey Destiny. This feat was repeated in 2011, when Master Cyril Hedidor of Science 1, won the Award, and this time round, had a four-week tour of the USA, aside the President’s Scholarship Award. In the event of the absence of an up-to-date track record of past students, it is difficult, almost impossible, to highlight achievements on the national and international scenes.
