The Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO)

The Keta Senior High Technical School (KETASCO) is a co-educational second cycle institution  built by the Government under the Ghana Educational Trust.

The school is situated at Dzelukope, a few meters from the old Shell Service Station. It has spacious  classrooms, excellent science laboratories housing the Keta Municipal Science Resource Centre and  an attractive and serene atmosphere for learning.

ADMISSION

Boys and girls who completed the Junior High School and have performed remarkably well are admitted. Candidates for admission into SHS1 were selected at the Annual Regional Conference/Selection meeting at Ho. This time admission of students is done by the Computerized School Selection  and Placement System (CSSPS).

PROGRAMMES IN THE KETA SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL

At the advent of the S.H.S. programmes, Keta Senior High Technical School started with four programmes namely: General Science, Business, Home Economics and Technical
In 1995, the General Arts programme was introduced with some selected options. In 1997, more options were introduced giving the General Arts students more room in which to operate. When Mr. D.K. Sedanu Kwawu, the 8th substantive headmaster was posted to the school, he added General Agriculture as the 7th programme. Under this programme, the students select Horticulture as one of their elective subjects. Th e
pioneer students under this programme scored 100%, and since then, the results have been extremely excellent.

All S.H.S. 1 students take the following compulsory subjects

  3. Integrated Science  
  4. Social Studies, in addition to four others selected from their programmes of study until they reach  S.H.S. 3. They then will be advised to continue with the 4 or select 3 for their fi nal examination.

For academic excellence, the School Management Board had adopted a special promotion policy since 2008. Names of students who score D7, E8 and F9 in three or more of the core and elective subjects are displayed on the school notice board with a warning note. Then after the third term examination ALL students who score D7, E8 and F9 in three or more subjects are made to repeat the class. Parents who are not pleased with this policy are allowed to transfer their wards to another school.
